Joshua Choge
Chairman
Karebe’s Chairman has 25 years’ experience in the public sector having recently served 7 years as Chairman of Kengen. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics, is a trained Accountant from Strathmore College as well as a trained Procurement Manager by the Chattered institute of Purchasing and Supplies (UK). He has also served as a Director at Agricultural Finance Corporation where he was Deputy Chairman of the board and the Chairman of the Finance and Business Committee of the Board. The Chairman is a champion in corporate governance matters.
Hosea Kili
Director
Mr. Hosea Kimutai Kili is an executive professional with over 25 years’ leadership experience in the public sector. Mr. Kili is the current Group Managing Director and CEO of County Pension Fund in Nairobi, Kenya, one of the largest retirement benefits schemes and related services provider in the country. CPF recently bought a significant share of Karebe. He has also served as Managing Trustee/CEO of Local Authorities Pension Trust (LAPTRUST) and Deputy General Manager.
Charlie Tryon
Director
Charlie is Managing Partner of Maris Capital, a frontier market investment group, which he founded in 2009. Maris has 23 investments in 8 countries in Africa and is fast becoming one of the most successful private equity investors in Africa. These include 2 additional Gold Mining investments in Zimbabwe, Venice Mine Complex and Commoner Mine. www.marisafrica.com.
Jeremy Froome
Director/CFO
Jeremy has been with Karebe for 13+ years. Prior to this he spent 3 years working in the Maasai Mara as Financial Controller. Before moving back to his native Kenya, he worked in Ireland for 7 years for American International Group, Merrill Lynch and Royal Bank of Scotland in their treasury finance team after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He also holds an honors degree in Business Management from Newcastle University, UK and holds an additional accountancy qualification as a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
Employees
Over 90% of KGML’s employees are from the local area. Many had no former mining experience and have been trained from scratch by KGML. The company also runs a training program for graduates from local universities.
Nico Van Rensburg
General Manager
Nico has 40 years experience in the hard rock underground and surface gold and platinum industry. He began his career as a leaner official at Stilfontein GM. He advanced through the ranks to mine overseer and then technical assistant, underground manager and ultimately mine manager. He has expertise in mine planning, design, scheduling, shaft sinking, trackless mining and many other aspects of mining.
